Ang Lee

Working closely with James Schamus throughout his career, Ang Lee has directed nothing but well-reviewed films from the very start (with Pushing Hands). Though his films are often infused with comedy (Sense and Sensibility) or action (Hulk), they all have an austerity and unparalleled attention to human detail. Though the film was snubbed in most key categories, Ang Lee won his first Best Director Oscar® for 2005's Brokeback Mountain.
