Fans of Joe Gage's films (and I am notoriously one) often praise them by saying "There's nothing else out there like them." Sooo, what are we to say about an anthology of three episodes, each following a very time-honored porn scenario ("full-service" masseur; two coaches getting off in the locker room with a student athlete; job interview a la "How bad do you want this job"), and, for each episode, not including anything that others haven't, in terms of actual content? As a friend of mine once remarked, in trying to explain to me the fascination that classical ballet had for him, "It's not that the star is doing something nobody else does, it's that he's doing it better than anybody else does it." It's almost as if, in making this video, Gage set out to prove to us that he's not special because he's different, he's special because he's the best. Not knowing who'd directed this video, one might not guess it was Joe Gage (none of the famous trademarks), but one would know that the director was somebody who really knows what he's doing. Gage sustains the slow intensity in each episode; the models stay focused, and even though there are no surprises, you are never tempted to fast-forward or skip. Only five performers in all, and the sets are simple to the point of being symbolic--for the athletic segment, one set of lockers and a bench; for the interview, a simple cubicle in an otherwise empty room; an attic for the massage--but there's no sense that it's being done 'on the cheap.' The models have never looked better; Jessie Coulter, in particular, looks good enough in the massage segment that I'm almost ready to forgive him for spelling "Jessie" the way girls do, instead of "Jesse" the way men do. There, I got that off my chest. Those looking for that special, distinctive "Joe Gage" experience won't find it here. On the other hand, those who are looking for really hot porn, and depending on a master like Joe Gage to come up with the goods, won't be disappointed.
