Bear Shorts Vol. 2

If you like your men hairy and thick and your films short and sweet, then this compilation of short films that played at the Vermont Bear Film Festival is right up your cave... especially if you're jonesing for some silliness. A good number of the short films here are musical parodies featuring bears and we also get treated to a stuffed animal orgy, a silent film parody featuring handsome hairy hunks in period outfits, a musical number that denounces homophobic Christians (which really isn't very beary at all, but it is cute) and an experimental short that shows a huge cock moving through space as if in a sci-fi movie. None of these films will change your life and most steer clear of gratuitous titillation, but still the opening number, a bear-themed parody of Chamillionaire's "Ridin' Dirty" with the clever title, "Wide & Furry," is completely infectious and sets a fun tone for the rest of the compilation. This DVD is perfect to put on during a relaxed dinner party for you and all your hairiest friends.

This is the second DVD of short films from the Vermont Bear Film Festival and the diversity is amazing. Everyone will find at least one film to enjoy here. I actually liked them all. The filmmakers included here are Don Newcomb, Clark Nikolai, Dan Dowling and Rob Sherman, Jay Spears, David Hall, Jonathan Robinson and Gerard Gudgion, and Cubby. The films range from animation to drama and a lot of comedy. Even better than that is that the proceeds from the sales of the film will benefit future film festivals.



The titles include: "Wide and Furry", "Avalanche", Twirling Earl", "Treviano e la Lune", "Lord Cockworthy". "I Like Mike". "Stomach = Heart", "Galactic Docking Company", "St. Sebastian Protector of Beards", "Sexy Beasts", "Smak them Christians Down, and"Bearly Haunted"

There is no way I can summarize hem all but I will tell about a few. "Lord Cockworthy" is about an aristocrat, a photographer and an expressionist painter go on a picnic in the English countryside. The delightful day changes for the highly civilized Edwardian era men when they encounter wild lusty nature. In "Treviano e la Lune" a man sings in the shower and has a daydream that his life is an opera. His singing conjures up both a satyr and the moon who gives him questionable advice on romance. "Galactic Docking Company" is a bold look at docking" and"Twirling Earl" is wonderful animation.
