Shadows, The

There are some movies that are beautiful to watch and Guillermo R. Rodriguez's "The Shadows" is one of them. The music is fascinating, rich and deep, the photography is absolutely gorgeous and the idea for the screenplay won me over in seconds after the movie began. It is a thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat as I tried to guess what would happen next.
Stephen Grimes is a horror writer who works hard to get new ideas for the books he writes. As the film begins, we see him tying to think of new ways to "kill" people. One night, while out driving, he hits a young guy with his car and quickly rushes him to the hospital. The two men, Stephen and Emett, become friends and eventually become involved in a love affair. However, Stephen soon finds himself trapped within quite a dangerous plot when both Emett and his friends begin to show a side that, in itself, could become a plotline for Stephen's next book.
The movie deals with the idea of identity and it is a deep, dark look at the nature of who someone really is. It is not just identity that is explored; "The Shadows" with the horror of identity and to explain what that means could ruin a very intense viewing experience for those of you who will see the movie. All of us know that living can be a quite painful experience and this emotional thriller deals with just that.
