Controversial even before its World Premiere screening at the Tribeca Film Festival where GLAAD infamously damned it, Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives is actually just hilariously harmless, exploitative fun ? think of a transgendered Charles Bronson as Varla in Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. Fashioned in the style of a sleazy '70s pulp film, this uproarious slasher/revenge romp features some seriously not-to-be-fucked with transsexuals, finger-snapping one-liners, vicious straight male villains, and enough beatings, stabbings and kung-fu style ass-kicking to satisfy.

It all begins in a small Dallas nightclub where performers and friends - Mexican bombshell Emma Grashun (Erica Andrews), the fast-talking Rachel Slurr (Willam Belli), the naïve Bubbles Cliquot (Krystal Summers), 36DD Tipper Sommore (Jenna Skyy) and the plus-sized Pinky La'Trimm (Kelexis Davenport) - hang out. But when a group date with an unsuspecting straight guy leads to one of the beauties being hospitalized, it takes the collective swagger and power of the others to exact justice! And for the PCers out there, if you are still not convinced that Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives, just remember ? it's a comedy and it's the pissed off ladies who have the knives this time. They could be coming after you next!

It has been a long time since a film has stirred up so much controversy. It has been condemned by GLAAD as against trans people, people have walked out on it because of the violence and word of mouth has not helped it. Personally I thought it to be pure camp and wacky as can be, a groaner of a film that is actually fun.
The plot looks at a group of transgender women who are hunted by a group of no-gooders who trans-women. Boner (Thomas Zembrod) is seeking revenge on Bubbles (Krystal Summers) for not disclosing her (trans) gender. He and his gang stalk Bubbles and her friends and horrible things happen. We know from the title that the trans women are seeking revenge.
The acting is ok although one actor stands out and that is William Belli (who is not trans) is hilarious as Rachel Slurr. He knows that this film is just a camp epic and he therefore milks every line of dialog and totally entertains. Writer/Director Israel Luna seems to be having a lot of fun with the violent beatings, tortures and murders of some of his characters. I realize that this is not a film for everyone so I have warned you about it. I had a great time though.
There are some girls who should never be messed with like the heroines of this film: Bubbles Cliquot, Tipper Sommore, Rachel Slurr, and Emma Grashun. They are respected where they work, Pinky La'Trimm's nightclub, but they become the victims of a psycho guy who just can't get over his conflicted desire for Bubbles. The "girls" get it going on ala diva and become deadly. Thisis a revenge fantasy flick that combines camp, slasher horror, and power-chick flick to create a radical new genre which will probably be called "transploitation".

Israel Luna, along with his Dallas-based cast and crew have created the atmospheric 1970s somewhat distressed aesthetic that sparkles with each "woman's" glittered sheen and we see that even with balls it is not easy to get even.
