Cabaret: 40th Anniversary Special Edition
Warner Bros.Critically-acclaimed at the time of its release, this outstanding musical about hedonism in 1920s Berlin and the rise of Nazism stars Liza Minnelli (in arguably her best film role) as the inimitable Sally Bowles, a nightclub singer who strikes up an affair with a bisexual Brit. Bob Fosse 's direction was never better.
Reasons to Buy
- If you've never squeezed yourself into a flapper dress and belted out "Life is a cabaret, old chum, come to the cabaret" in your best Liza impression, you're seriously missing out.
- Joel Grey was pretty much born to play the emcee.
- It's that rare musical that blends show-stopping glitz with an important social and historical message.
