Gale : Mens Room II is dripping with Joe Gage's legendary trademarks. The cast is a mix of tough, facial-haired T-bone (or T-"boner") beef and fresh-faced but dirty-minded chicken. The pacing is unhurried but hardly relaxed, and the actors play fully-fleshed-out characters whose emotional interaction drives both the sexual and physical tension. And while there is more fucking than some other of his films, Gage once again shows that he is the master at finding other uses for his cast's cocks. In an early interview, Gage said that he prefers to film the spontaneous sex that happens in places where men unexpectedly hook up, like a men's room. They eye, stroke and suck each other (preferably through a glory hole) before heading on their way; t-room action generally doesn't go anal. Oh, one other thing these guys do ? they take a piss. And do they ever here: on walls, in pails, into bottles and mostly onto each other. Watersports has always been Gage's favorite kink ever since Will Seagers took a leak in L.A. Tool & Die. There's a nasty gale outside, but it's not water that's flooding this Men's Room floor! Act One: There are only three scenes in Gale but each lasts an hour, so grab the lube and have your cum towel ready. Mike Grant is on the road when the storm hits, so he hides out in an old warehouse, along with TV cameraman T.J. Taylor. The Last Word: In Gale : Men's Room II Gage takes lots of time building up the sexual tension with posing and leering. Is it too much? It depends, but some viewers might get an itch in their fast-forward finger. And Gage's attitude toward the fuck is still in flux: the Paris-Hengst and Maddox-Kennedy pairings are great, but the Gemineye-Parker rub didn't work and the Rhodes-Stone fuck is way over-edited. The good news is that all gets resolved in Gage's second Titan project, 110° in Tucson, an unadulterated masterpiece. And anal really isn't what Gale is all about; it's about lots of man-made precipitation. (There are over two dozen cumshots alone.) In that regard, Gale is a of nature. Mr. Rodgers has well summarized the action of this film, and though I would agree with him that a handful of the films Gage made in this period ("Mens Room I: Bakersfield Station," "110 in Tucson," and, above all, "Arcade on Route 9"), rate even higher, I am certainly more in Mr. Rodgers' neighborhood (see what I did there?) than in that of "Chainpolesmoker." Nobody would claim that Gage's films are to everyone's taste. The only way that every gay porn video could be to everyone's taste is if you reduced them all to the lowest common denominator of guys whacking off, sucking cock, and shoving it into each other. And if all you want is to get off as quickly as possible, I guess that would be the kind of video you'd want to be watching. Some of us want more: mood, character types, attention to our particular kinks, a watching experience that might cause us to daydream afterwards about being a part of what we've watched. I am second to none as a fan of Gage's films, and even I admit to an occasional fast-forward (mainly because I like naked men fucking better than mostly-clothed men sucking each other off), but it takes viewing time to establish the kind of situation that creates an atmosphere, and once Gage has achieved that atmosphere, we want to linger in it a while. Also, it takes me more than twenty seconds to get to the point of cumming. Just sayin. If so many gay men have enjoyed so many of Gage's films so many times, over his forty-year career, wouldn't it be smarter just to say "not my cup of tea" than to dismiss his entire life's output as worthless and also to dismiss as self-deluded all those gay men who think his films are hot, presumably because (unlike wise Mr. Chainpolesmoker) they're unable to figure out whether or not they're enjoying what they're watching?

He directs at a glacial pace that shrinks your hard on in your hand while you wait and wait and wait for something, anything, to happen. when it does the action is so badly edited that you'll have to fantasize about being somewhere else in order to get off. Back in the day, when you rented porn movies one at a time from the local video store, this might have been forgivable--after you got the vid home and your pants down you were, literally, a captive audience. But on pay-per-view? It's ridiculous. Surf on to something else--so long as it is not by Gage.
