This steamy, high-octane crime drama and love story is a visually stunning and sensuous film. Set in 1965 and based on a true Argentinean criminal case, Burnt Money centers on three bronzed muscular thugs--Nene, Angel and Cuervo--and their lethal life of crime. Nene and Angel, known as the twins, met in a toilet and instantly became lovers, who, with their partner Cuervo, decide to do a hold-up without their usual partners. That path soon becomes lined with , dead bodies, furious lovemaking and wads of cash. But when Angel is injured and with the law closing in, the gang decides to lay low in Uruguay. While hiding out, the lovers' tumultuous relationship begins to unravel. And when Cuervo brings a woman into their lair, her presence threatens them all. The film alternates between moments of intense rust-colored homoeroticism and blasts of bullets. An explosive tale of blind ambition, heartless violence and clothes-tearing lust, this gay Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid stars an unforgettable pair: Eduardo Noriega, winner of last year's Best Actor at the Spanish Goyas for Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes) as Angel and Leonardo Sbaraglia as Nene. Burnt Money is the most sensuous Latino gay film I have ever seen. It is not that it just exudes sexuality, it makes one chuckle at the ridiculousness of the character's situation.
Of course the mens genuine love and affection, especially when wounded, demonstrates a very profound love and the violence is a bit of a turn on.

Burnt Money was an inbetween of Road to Peridition and the average gay male who has a strong religious background and more things are against him, then with him. The sex scenes were hot as they were, but I do not judge a movie gay or straight based on a sex scene. That is something for sex addicts, this is a movie not a porn flick. The battle of the heart of the one lover who felt his mate wasn't complying with his sexual wishes is showing how religion if powerful enough in a person makes us battle ourselves and leave us most often then good times in a state of confusion, and frustration. Out of 4 stars, and careful consideration, I give it a 3.5, for a darn good and well thought out theme and main idea.

I have been waiting to see this movie for quite a while. It has a plot that definitely makes it several notches above porno. As matter of fact, the love relationship is more convincing than that of the B. Mountain. I really enjoyed this film. The English subtitles made it easy for me to understand what was going on at all times. Definitely an A+.

I have been wanting to see this movie for awhile but never had the chance. But now that I finally got my hands on it, I guess my waiting has paid off. A lot of people complained that there was no gay sex scene in this movie. Because of that they didn't like the movie. I'll be lying if I said that I wasn't dissapointed. But I realized that this movie had something that most of all the other gay genre movie didn't.---A lot of male to male affection and sensuality. Although no sex, the actors pulled this one off almost as if they had been real lovers. It was almost like they were showing true emotions instead of acting. That was what most gay genre movies lacked. Thus leaving me with one thought in mind "why couldn't the other movies be more like this one?"

Why oh why do I always get suckered into these "Spanish" movies thinking they'll be good? As usual, one of the characters seems to have issues with his homosexuality and the whole thing ends in terrible tragedy. (and there you have the basic theme to every Spanish, Mexican, and Latin American "gay" movie ever made).....what's up with that? The movie was very boring, despite the graphic action scenes. If it hadn't been for the great male eye candy and the occasional (uncut) dick shot, I would have turned off the film half-way through. This is definitely a rent-before-you-buy film. I'm glad I did, though I still want a refund.

I love this movie, I can relate to the things happened there, as I was raised in Central American and also know of stories very similar to this one...

I was very glued to my television with my boyfriend, enjoying it, it's different, it's slow paced at times, but it's something I will always remember...

This is an interesting movie, however I would hardly call it a "gay" movie. Viewers who are looking for the erotica/graphic sex as referenced will be disappointed to learn the only sex scenes in this movie are between men and women. Even the opening scene depicting on the box is so darkly filmed the actors are barely visible. This would be a good rental, but I can't see watching it more than once.

This movie is not for the faint of heart. Its dark, violent, and very erotic. Though not overly explicit in the gay scenes. These guys just exude sex! Few films ever live up to the hype-- Burnt Money far exceeds it. My mouth is still salivating from the taste of it. Don't worry about the subtitles. You won't be able to keep your eyes of the screen anyway--these guys certainly deliver.
