Destined to be forever referred to as the "American Priscilla," this bit of cross-dressing whimsy lacks that film's exhilaration and sharp character definition, but ultimately pleases with its good humor and spirited performances. Tough guys Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes get in touch with their feminine side as they don sequins and high heels as two New York drag queens who win a preliminary drag contest and ride off towards Hollywood for the finals. Along for the ride is Latina spitfire John Leguizamo, an ill-refined drag looking to learn the ropes. En route, they run afoul of the law, and are stranded in a small Midwestern town (and befriend the locals) which provides most of the story. Though the gay characters are positively portrayed, they are virtually sexless fairy godmothers who neither love or have partners and who help the hapless heterosexuals with no fashion sense. This is so tame you can watch it with your mom. Looking like Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot, Swayze seems to enjoy himself as the demure Vida; Snipes is rambunctious as the glib Noxeema; and Leguizamo steals the show as the fiery Chi Chi. Blink and you might miss Quentin Crisp's appearance as a beauty pageant judge.

This is the funniest drag queen movie I ever watched! From the first song at the beginning of this movie, I somehow had a feeling that this movie surely something and it DOES... Oh, the casts are great and I never expexted to see Snipes and Leguizamo wearing heals... and walking with it too! All the colourful wigs and beautiful costumes just makes me wanted to wear them too although I'm not a drag queen (emm... maybe a little bit). The supporting casts also had done a very good job with all kind of characters. That's what it means by colourful. Colourful characters, colourful songs, colouful costumes and colourful settings. One thing that I love the most in this movie is the Wild Red Party scene. It just happen that red is my favourite colour and all the costumes at that party just make me crazy to join them too if I could. At least I have some idea what to wear for my next party... must be Wild and Red I thought. Overall, to all people involved in his movie, thanks for everything!

To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar was made in style. The cast was wonderfuly choosen. One white queen (Patrick Swayze), one black queen (Wesley Snipes), and one latino queen ( John Leguizamo). The supporting cast was great also (Stockard Channing). This movie will make you laugh till it hurts.
