Mitchel's death has a profound effect on his twin brother Mason (Noah Urrea) and as the family prepares for the wake, Mason spiritually tries to reach his brother. Mason isn't alone in struggling to come to terms with his brother's sudden death. His religious parents, his sisters, and another brother come together for a memorial service but closure is hard to find.

As the film moves forward there is tension as we learn about each character and the damage they carry. As the family deals with its grief, the viewer deals with the emotions of loss and isolation along with them. The family seems to be falling apart. There are questions linger about Mitchel's death, but no one is willing to face them until a stranger appears at the wake. As a result, Mason sets off on a journey of self-discovery and connection with an unlikely friend. When Mason tries to reach his brother in order to relieve his guilt, Molly (Sofia Rosinsky) presides over a spiritual ceremony, determined that it go smoothly but what is happening is beyond her ability to cope. Older sister Megan (Megan Trout) is angry (and has been drinking) demands to ask the questions that have been ignored by everyone.

When Mitchel's secret ex-boyfriend, Jameson (Kolton Stewart), shows up to the wake unexpectedly, the family is to confront the realities of Mitchel's life. The children clash with their elders over how to handle the situation and family members are torn apart and look for solace in places they did not expect to.
