The smash road comedy from Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron is that rare movie to combine raunchy subject matter and emotional warmth. Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna shot to international stardom as a pair of horny Mexico City teenagers from different classes who, after their girlfriends jet off to Italy for the summer, are bewitched by a gorgeous older Spanish woman (Maribel Verdú) they meet at a wedding. When she agrees to accompany them on a trip to a faraway beach, the three form an increasingly intense and sensual alliance that ultimately strips them both physically and emotionally bare. Shot with elegance and dexterity by the great Emmanuel Lubezki, Y Tu Mamá También is a funny and moving look at human desire.

Reasons to Buy

  1. It's about two over-sexed teenage boys in unspoken love with each other (sort of).
  2. Don't miss the legendary diving-board jerk-off scene - or the (spoiler alert) boy-on-boy kiss.
  3. This contemporary classic has been out of print for years (much to the dismay of international film lovers). Now it is getting the royal Criterion Collection treatment with a wealth of special features!

A remarkable movie! The fact that we're not sure how gay or not gay the boys are is one of the reasons the film is so compelling.

I don't know why this is marketed as a gay movie. They wake up one morning in a tent together, after a night of drinking and not knowing what happened, can barely look at each other...that's the 'Interesting' part. The other 99.5% of the movies is st... Read More

It's a mystery to me why this movie is being so aggressively marketed to a gay audience, except maybe the producers think that we're desperate to look at two horny teenagers, so desperate in fact that we'll sit through 85 minutes of sheer boredom to ... Read More

This film is about reality and that's why it is outstanding. The people who sit there an criticize it are obviously blind to true art and talent (yes U, foray3).
