Nate (Tyler Ross) is a 19-year-old student and Margaret (Natalie West) is a 52-year-old aspiring comedian. In spite of their age difference, they have a perfectly functioning friendship - that is, until Nate finds a new boyfriend (Conor McCahill) and Margaret's career starts taking off, putting their friendship on the rocks.
Reasons to Buy
- Paying homage to Harold and Maude, Nate and Margaret is a touching story about a friendship the crosses all the usual boundaries - and the gay, puppy-love romance that drives part of the film's conflict is completely adorable.
- This is the feature-length debut from writer/director/actor Nathan Adloff. You can see him (all of him, actually) in the film Blackmail Boys. This is a very promising start to a directorial career we're exciting to follow.
- You might not recognize Natalie West, but if you were a fan of the show "Roseanne" (who wasn't?), you've seen her. She played Crystal in the first several seasons, but departed from the show and vanished from the screen entirely for many, many years. This is an amazingly heartfelt, incredibly vulnerable performance that we hope gives her the comeback she deserves.
