"Room in Rome" is an erotic romance with several subthemes- kindness, being open to new experiences, love and life but more than anything else it is about falling in love and then gracefully walking away without anyone feeling badly.

Written and directed by Julio Medem, the film stars Elena Anaya as Alba, a Spanish woman who meets Natasha (Natasha Yarovenko), a Russian woman in a bar and takes her back to her hotel room where the two women spend the night. The two women are naked for most of the movie and there are several short scenes that are quite intense. We become involved with the women as they become involved with each other and we are like voyeurs looking on. The world of the film is the hotel room with occasional visits from the outside via cell phones and computers.

Natasha had never been with a woman before and when she realizes what is happening, she tries to sneak away. However, she forgot her cell phone and the door is opened by Alba who is naked. Thus begins the night of sex, games, lies and confessions. I found the film to be quite beautiful, romantic and erotic. As the women cavort and play, layers are peeled away and secrets are exposed.

What I find especially interesting is how I reacted to a film of two naked women making love. I was totally immersed in the film and actually find myself feeling for Alba and Natasha. I loved the way they interacted with each other and as they did we felt the joy of being alive.

The film is beautiful to watch and the two women turn in brilliant performances. This is most definitely a film for adults and while the sex is dealt with beautifully and intelligently, this is a movie for those who can understand what it is about.
