Alan Cumming

        Alan Cumming is a Scottish stage, television and film actor, writer, director, producer, and author.Cumming's notable film credits include the James Bond film Goldeneye, his directorial debut Ghost Writer, The Anniversary Party (which he co-directed, co-starred, and co-wrote), and X2: X-Men United as Nightcrawler. On television, he has appeared in shows such as The High Life, Sex in the City, The L Word: The Complete Series, Logo's stopmotion Rick & Steve: The Complete First Season, and as the host of Masterpiece Mystery on PBS. Also an avid theater actor, Cumming played the Emcee in the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret, snagging a Tony and many other awards in the process. He has also appeared in stage productions of Hamlet, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, The Threepenny Opera (opposite Cyndi Lauper), and Bent.Cumming has worked in many other kinds of media as well. He published his first novel, Tommy's Tale in 2002 and has written articles for magazines, such as Marie Claire. He also has his own range of beauty products, featuring a cologne simply called "Cumming".Once described as "a frolicky pansexual sex symbol for the new millennium", Cumming has stated that he thinks of himself as bisexual, "although the pendulum has obviously swung". He has dated both men and women, including an eight year marriage to actress Hilary Lyon, a two year relationship with actress Saffron Burrows, and a six year relationship with theater director Nick Philippou. Most recently, Cumming lives with his husband, graphic artist Grant Shaffer.Lauded in the LGBT community, Cumming has received several awards and honors for promoting LGBT rights with GLAAD, the HRC, and AIDS charities, such as AMFAR.
