Featuring the work of Ross Watson, Untitled # showcases the artist's mastery and knowledge of figure painting and the old masters. Also, it's hot as hell. Even popular gay collectors like Elton John and the Scissor Sisters are fans of his work!
Watson cleverly reinvents the role of gay men in art history, by inserting handsome, scantily-clad men into works by renowned artists such as Caravaggio, Botticelli, and more. The pictures are so realistic that if you're unfamiliar with the original, you might have trouble spotting what Watson changed!

Ross Watson, a gifted Australian artist, has for the past twenty some years been creating images that are at once easily accessible, so fine is his photorealistic technique, while at the same time he is educating his collectors and beginning art lovers alike in his marrying historic paintings with a penchant for introducing contemporary figures in the construction of reconsidered canvases of the masters. He obviously is passionate about the quality of light and detail as seen in the works of Caravaggio and Vermeer among others, and he very confidently usurps the images of the masters, recreates them with extraordinary precision, all the while incorporating his handsome young men into the dialogue with the initial image.
This book titled 'UNTITLED #' is generous in the reproductions of many of Watson's well known paintings as well some works that have not been viewed. The color that has been lavished on the reproductions is first class: this is after all a product of Bruno Gmünder Verlag Publishers in Germany. The design of the book is superb, the accompany written comments are additive, and the pleasure afforded the reader of attempting to guess the artist associated or 'enhanced' by Ross Watson makes this a fine book for the library of all art lovers. And once the dazzle of the images is appreciated the reader can enjoy the at times rather poignant contemporary statements Watson makes. This book is a complete winner.
