From the beginning to the end this movie was a laugh out loud comedy, with lots of eye candy. This is one movie you can watch over and over again and still enjoy it like the first time. |
I have never laughed so hard...

This movie has to be the best comedy of 2006. Honestly I have never laughed so hard. If you want a hilarious, weirdly erotic, sexy movie then this is the one. I am so waiting on the sequel!!! |

The plot was ripped off from so many other str8 movies, but they did good and ended up being a great funny movie. |

3 1/2 out of 4 stars!

This movie was silly, far-fetched, and over the top. BUT that's why it was so great! Having seen many of the movies lampooned in AGM made it even more fun. The leads are all sexy and believable as gay teens. NOTE to Todd Stephens: I have to agree with one of the prior reviewers--why no frontal nudity of the 4 main characters??? Even A QUICK GLIMPSE would have made the movie even sexier (esp. since it was an unrated). The director's commentary and interview with Michael Carbonaro and Todd Stephens were also a lot of fun and well worth the time to listen to them. Michael in his boxer briefs was really hot, esp. with Todd's commentary. If you're looking for deep or meaningful, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a few hours of fun, you've found it. As the characters say at the end-- here's to the sequel... |

Fun gross-out humor
michaelangelo wrote:
I don't buy into some of these negative reviews. One of the harshest came from a moviegoer who decided to return to a film that he walked out of the first time. What were you expecting, a miracle? A last minute editing job?
If you like gross-out, stupid humor, then you will like this film. It's as simple as that. The movie doesn't have all that much to say. If you are expecting a smart, farcical commentary on gay culture, you are buying the wrong film.
As to all of these comments upon originality, I say "hogwash". Every single spoof done--"Another Teen Movie", Date Movie, Scary Movie--have all been cut-and-pasted melanges of the various movies they were spoofed. There was nothing original about any of those films and they all made millions of dollars. What I can say about "Another Gay Movie" is that it made me laugh harder than all of the aforementioned films combined. It was a nice respite from all the angst-ridden characters of contemporary gay films. Beautiful Thing, Get Real and Lilies may be the more meaningful and endearing films in the gay archives(and more special and important films to me), but the hour-and-a-half I spent watching this film was surely not a waste of my time. I chuckled, guffawed and roared during various scenes. I cringed in discomfort and rolled my eyes in annoyance during various other scenes. And, I sat agape when the movie pushed some of the censor buttons a bit farther than I expected. The film provoked a gamut of feelings and emotions in me and I find that type of movie-going experience worthwhile.
It's shocking humor. It's gross. It's stupid. But it's pretty darn funny. Be sure to pull the stick out of your butt before attending. |
Funniest Gay movie Yet!
Frank Chu wrote:
Don't miss out by listening to any bad reviews. It's another spoof on all those trashy teen movies and it says it in the title... well, inbetween the lines, that is... It's definitely funnier than any of the other hollywood spoofs; it's actually funnier, cramming in hot guys, all the most retarded jokes (and it knows it, that's why it's funny) and even funny lesbians with dildos... ummm... well that last part might freak some people out. Well, anyway, if you don't believe me on how funny this film is, believe my gay friend, who hates all gay movies. I dragged him along to go see this and in the looong line outside on the first day it was showing in Hollywood, my friend tried to get me to go somewhere else. In the end, he laughed his head off and brought one of his friends back to see the movie again. If that's not a gay miracle, then neither is Amsterdam! |
Perrrfect for a party of friends

I went with my boyfriend Carl and we thought it was great fun. Although both of us are turned off by queeny stereo types and main stream gay humor (Ethan Green...) we thought this one hit the mark. I had a wild Aunt that told me years ago in my years a child..."Toovi (her nickname for me) if you can't get to the top at least try to hit the very last bottom it will make a mark!" This movie succeeds and the fun is not for the timid but the jokes come at you non stop. We liked it. |
I should have listed...

I should have paid more attention to all of the bad reviews. I regret deciding to watch this film after all of the horrible feedback. With that said, I hated it like many have seemed to. To save some time in my review, take all of the bad reviews listed, multiply them by 10, and you have my feedback. Worst movie in years. Wake up people... just because it is "gay", doesnt mean it is good or that we should watch it. Shove this one down the drain. |
Quite fun and funny

I have read many of the other reviews, and those of you who think this was only a spoof on American Pie -- obviously you didn't get it then. This film spoofed many teen movies AND many gay movies. You didn't see the Mommie Dearest references? Did you miss the Edge of 17 bits, the Queer as Folk imitations? What about the Get Real part? There are so many moments that they spoof it is hard to miss it. The movie is very fun and well worth it. And it isn't only about seeing people naked - though I have to say I enjoyed finally seeing Richard Hatch! If you didn't enjoy the movie, then why bother saying anything? And another thing - all you nay sayers - I would like to see YOU do better, get off your butt and go make your own movie. |
Despised Every Moment
Jungle Prince Bryan wrote:
It is tue-- I DESPISED every moment of this film. I had gone to see it opening week with okay expectations... half way through I grabbed my belongings and walked out having followed another couple doing the same. It was horrid. Recently, a group of friends attended and asked me to tag along. Meeting for drinks beforehand, I figured a second try may do some good. WRONG! I finally made it through the entire movie. Never again will I. The film is far from original... it takes the most recent teen comedy contemporary classic (American Pie) and turns it gay. Oh wow-- how original.. what surprise... did I already guess the next scene and its outcome before it was even introduced. Beyond lame. Gross out humor is so dirty it manages to leave a filth behind covering all. Not funny. Not cute. Characters are unlikeable... I can go on and on. Save your money. HATED IT doesnt even sum it up |
Hillarious, but way
Bigbearphx wrote:
Reviewers have called it "the gay 'American Pie'", but a more proper name might be "Gay Anerican Quiche" as that dish is used in the same way as an apple pie in that teen flick. And, believe it or not, that is NOT the low point of the film!
The basic plot of the film: A group of gay friends are graduating from high school, and form a pact to make sure they lose their "anal virginity" before the summer is over and they go off to college. The main character is Andy, who has a crush on a Russian teacher (played to the hilt by Graham Norton) and whose father (played by gay comic Scott Thompson) tries to keep him from stealing all of the carrots and cucumbers in the house, by buying him a HUGE buttplug. Jarod is a varsity athlete, Griff the shy closet romantic who strives for a "bubble butt", and Nico is a queeny punkish partyboy, with a blind girlfriend and a mom who seems clueless to her son's sexuality. They get advice from their bulldyke best friend Muffler, who seems to be able to seduce any woman, straight or gay. Their dates include guest stars Matthew Rush (a gay porn star), Richard Hatch ("Survivor") and James Getzlaff ("Boy Meets Boy").
To be honest, ANOTHER GAY MOVIE is often hillarious in its outrageousness, and the (I'd bet 100% gay) small crowd at the theatre during the showing I attended laughed a lot and seemed to enjoy it, though I doubt any of them would have rated it higher than I did. In my opinion, the humor would register more with older gays (30+) who can identify (Been there, done that) with the cluelessness of the young main characters, as opposed to informed teens and 20-somethings who grew up in more open times and had resources like the internet. Also, I'd bet that there was at least one or two scenes most viewers would have preferred weren't there, be it the overdone bathroom humor, a naked Richard Hatch waiting for Nico to have sex with him, or the two guys at the bar with NAMBLA (a group that advocates sex with young boys) t-shirts advising Griff that he is "way too old" at 17.
Beyond the sight gags and gross-outs, the story is predictable, with a lot of overacting, scenes meant to shock rather than add anything to the film, and lots of unrealistic scenarios. But I did love the theme song, "Another Gay Sunshine Day" sung by Nancy Sinatra. :)
The theatrical film is not rated, but would be courting an NC-17 due to abundant frontal nudity, simulated sex, graphic sex talk and over-the-top S&M content (Trust me: you'll never think of Graham Norton quite the same way again!) |
GREAT

Campy, Gross, and Totally Fun!

I saw this movie just for shits and giggles. I went in expecting something horrible like all gay movies but I was blown away. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a "change your life, award winning movie" but dear god is it funny. I laughed my ass the whole time. It's insanely campy, there's ass loads of nudity, even by the stars and I don't care what those guys say about the 4 leads not showing frontal, it's not that big of a deal, go watch a porno you perverts, there actors! Anyway, this is a great great movie and lots of fun to watch with friends or even a date because the chemistry between two of the leads is very endearing. |
Totally unoriginal
Dan the Pasta Man wrote:
This is apparently supposed to be a parody of all the teen sex films out there... and, it fails miserably. Basically all they did was take "American Pie" and turn the characters gay. Seriously-- that is about all. Toss in some cameos by porn stars and tv reality stars and well... and, well-- whatever! This could have been a totally hysterical film... But, it falls flat on its face. It could have made fun of so many other films. But, in staying in context with "American Pie" and nothing else in a degree enough to count, we see every joke and plotline coming from a mile away. Makes for a very dull experience. I pray there isn't a sequel. |

Very Funny Very Sexy but Unfortaunately Bogus as Well
Green Giant wrote:
Don't get me wrong this is a very funny, very sexy movie but where's the frontal nudity on the part of the 4 leads? Do they all have dicks the size of a peanut? Another case
of a low buget/indie film whimping out just like the major studios. Why director/writer Todd Stephens, is there no frontal nudity on the part of the 4 leads? A totally lame bogus film in this regard. |
