Taylor of Old Bond Street, London has been making luxury shaving creams in a continuing family tradition since the reign of Queen Victoria. There are several wonderful fragrances to choose from, and a lather so rich and creamy that your skin will be gently fragrant and feel wonderfully smooth for the whole day. Can be used with or without a brush. Each container is 5.3 oz (150g). The cream is placed on either the shaving brush or directly on the palm of the hand and then applied to the face.

There was a time – many years ago – that I bought national brand shaving creams like Gillette, Edge and Barbasol. But that was before the explosion of specialty creams and gels and before I walked down Jermyn Street in central London. There I found a shop called Taylors of Old Bond Street and splurged on a tub of their Almond Shaving Cream.

What was a mindless morning chore quickly changed to a fun experience. The almond scent was subtle but strong enough to relax me. The cream itself is silky smooth resulting in my razor gentling gliding over (and quietly cutting) my stubble. And one needs to use only a little bit – the jar lasts for months. To this day I look forward to shaving and getting a cut-free, baby-smooth face.

With the metrosexualitzation of men, specialty shaving creams have become a fun, not expensive extravagance. I’ve tried many others but they don’t hold a candle to Taylors. I prefer the Almond, but Rose and the Sandalwood scented creams offer very different aromas but still have that amazing shaving qualities. An inexpensive luxury for you or a friend.
