In Porno Revolution, director Laurent Sky not only attacks American politics, society and the adult film industry, but he seems to think that he is a visionary capable of transforming the world of porno forever. I don’t care if megastar Jenna Jameson endorses the film and thinks this is the future of pornography. If it is, those of us who like to see oodles of sex for hours on end are going to be mighty disappointed. Fortunately, I’m convinced that there are enough filmmakers still out there who are committed to bringing us what we want: naked men and women enjoying the act of sex.

Porno Revolution contains under an hour of actual on-screen sex. Instead, Mr. Sky fills up the running time with his pretentious, holier-than-thou diatribes. In one ridiculous scene, writer Michael Stewart lies in his hospital bed complaining to Randy Spears about how no one really gives a crap about a good porno script. Stewart says he realizes everyone fast-forwards through the dialog to get to the sex. Not always true, sir. I’ve chuckled along with many a well-written (or even cheesy) adult film: Autobiography of a Flea, Little Often Annie, and New Barbarian to name a fraction. Sadly, however, this movie does make me want to go searching for the sex. Seriously, Mr. Sky (and Mr. Stewart): nothing is as unarousing as barely-veiled political commentary about how the U.S. went wrong in 2005.

Before I get too far afield like Mr. Sky, let me briefly mention the sex. What sex is here is flashy, well-lit and well-filmed. Every set piece is there to make a statement. If you’re able to block out the messages and focus on the sex, you’ll find that it’s hot and wet. Whether it’s Courtney Simpson dressed as a raver getting fucked by her DJ boyfriend or Lexi Marie & Kathleen Kruz teasing each other in the presence of Mr. Sky himself, the girls are both great-looking and hungry. (Who wouldn’t be after so much inane chatter?!)

Porno Revolution ends almost as pompously as it began: two attractive young people are pulled over by a corrupt police officer. After putting them through the wringer, he forces them to open their trunk. Inside are hundreds of stolen Laurent Sky DVDs. Nice marketing touch, Mr. Sky. But I, for one, am not fooled. I doubt you will be either.
