  • Famously regarded as a return to basics for Bond. Lots of exciting action scenes with a minimum of fuss.
  • For proof, the opening segment ends with Blofeld getting dumped into a smokestack, signaling the end of the '70s era.

Review

The 12th James Bond thriller marked a deliberate return to a trimmed down plot and a minimum of histrionic gadgetry. While subsequent productions have been prone to such diversions, this effort is much closer to the stylistic intentions of the series' creator Ian Fleming. The film still features many of the Bond trademarks -- spectacular chase scenes, mind-boggling stunts and a bevy of beautiful women.
