Nathan (William Baldwin) is a successful businessman who seems to be little more than a stranger to his wife and family. Buck is a timid elderly man adrift now that his long-time wife has passed away. Tony is a frustrated, angry man desperately trying to escape his controlling mother. And, finally, Jeremy is a traveling carpet salesman unable to stand up to his domineering fiancée. While each is from a different walk of life, on this one day they will each end up in the same place, looking to buy love that can make up for what they’re missing. Feelis their story, but also the story of the women trapped in a life that they react to with their own set of varying attitudes that range from resigned boredom to determination to escape. The sum of these stories is a fascinating character study that reveals how a group of people searching to make a connection with another human being can leave them as isolated as ever or how physical love can lead to unexpected breakthroughs. Sensitively acted by a cast who are easy on the eyes, Feelis also punctuated by fanciful subjective flourishes that allow the audience to further penetrate into its characters’ emotions. Isolation and anomie has never been so alluring.
