Cannibalism, strippers and bloody murder in Cannibal Lolita, a deranged low-budget horror movie from director J.R. Thomas.

A series of sadistic murders has plagued a small resort town. Each death is more gruesome than the next. Each is the work of a sick serial killer and cannibal. The police seem to be clueless as to who might be behind the killings. One of the victims was named Frankie but to the cops he is just another number. Frankie's beautiful sister, Stevie, along with Frankie's best friend Todd decide to do their own investigation as relying on the detectives seems to be leading nowhere. The deaths appear to have a loose connection to a seedy strip club on the wrong side of the tracks. Stevie vows revenge on her brother's killer and takes a job as a stripper hoping to gain some much needed knowledge.

Review

Director J.R. Thomas stakes his claim for the title "Worst Director Ever" with Cannibal Lolita, a low-budget horror flick about a fat man and a white trash chick trying to catch the black strip club owner and his bi-racial daughter/lover who have been committing a string of gruesome murders. Sounds like it makes sense, no? No, not at all. See, there are actually crew members listed in the credits, so Thomas must've had some sort of budget. But, he shot the thing on what appears to be a video camera that was probably cutting edge in the 19th century. Really, every scene looks worse than shit. So, Thomas compensates by overlaying all kinds of "trippy" visual effects on just about every shot. Sometimes, he just films the action completely out of focus. This constant effect of shitty visual on top of shitty visual made the few times that a scene was presented as shot (low quality image and all) a breath of fresh air.

The saddest thing about Thomas' directorial extreme wankery is that there are a bunch of naked titties and one or two reasonably graphic sex scenes that get horribly marred by the visual effects. The white trash chick shows off her boobs in a scene that looks like it might've been unsimulated, but really we wouldn't know as it's totally distorted. Plus, the Lolita of the title offers up an awesome full-frontal moment and a whole bunch of boobs. A few of these are even presented undistorted, - creating an island of wank fodder in an intentionally frustrating forest of bullshit.

All in all, there's about 1 minute of undistorted nudity and about 5 minutes of actual story development amongst piles and piles of filler - mostly consisting of layered visuals and quaotes from famous serial killers. Who know- maybe J.R. Thomas isn't the worst director of all time. Maybe, he's a visionary creating a whole new style of moviemaking that blends experimental video art with low-budget horror and grindhouse sleaze to create a whole new genre. Or maybe he's deconstructing the whole torture porn genre by throwing piles of shit on it. Either way, we didn't get it. But, we will be fast forwarding to Lolita's snizz-exposing moment again: that shit was hot!

I think its pretty messed up that this "Rick Stanko" Calls the character Stevie of this movie the "White trash chick". Who the hell is this guy? Some jerk sitting at his computer screen watching ass and titties, and typing up his reviews, and calling other people names when in fact hes probably some middle aged, balding, fat ass, who sits and jacks his dick at women he will never have, i may not be gods gift to men, but i think i am pretty goddamn hot and just because i live in Virginia doesn't mean im white trash, i am far from trash, yeah this movie was awful there is no doubt about that, but don't blame it on the country girl.
