Olympe (Monot) is a cute high school girl who's got crushes and all the usual high school girl problems, but she's got more worries as well. Her mother Marion (Florido) is not only a lesbian; she's closeted and won't discuss it. When the boy Olympe swoons over, Leo (Bonnifait,) invites her to a dance, trouble brews. On Monday morning, Geraldine, a jealous rival for Leo's attentions, outs Olympe's mother to all their friends. Olympe is shocked as her mother has never actually admitted being a lesbian. She confronts her mother with questions about her relationship with her lover Do, but the woman has trouble being frank with her daughter. In crises, Olympe flees to be with her Dad, who is comfortably gay. Olympe is far more upset about her mother's secrets than about her being a lesbian. This terrific story is carried by the acting of the teens and the story of a family in crises. All of the actors are first-rate, the story engaging and the film elegantly shot. With a gay dad, a lesbian mom, plenty of cute teen boys and girls, Same Sex Parents truly has something for everyone. (French with English subtitles)
