I read the original version of this book a year ago and absolutely loved it. Then I heard that it was being republisher by one of my favorite publishers and that changes had been made. I saw a post by the author where she assured previous readers not a lot had changed. I'm so relieved!

I've never been a big fan of historical fiction but if they were all like this I would be. It's big, it's passionate, it's exciting, and I love the fact that the love scenes are not the gushing (literally) over-the-top skin-slapping, grunting and groaning we've come to believe had to be in m/m romance. Instead they're intensely erotic in the emotion and seduction and seduction is way more interesting that bodily fluids.

I'm looking forward to reading the new version to see what changes were made. I hope not a lot. The characters of Nick and Kit were wonderfulful. Even the secondary characters were beautifully done. And not many m/m books have well-done female characters. This one does!

It has a lot of theatre, too, something I am crazy about.

There aren't many books I'd spend hard-earned money on TWICE, but The Phoenix is one of them.

Now I hope the author and publisher give us another book by Ruth Sims. There sure is one just waiting!
