Dandy Dust
REVIEW
Of interest for only the most adventurous filmgoers, this self-styled “fetish/techno/poly-media spurt cinema” is a visually spectacular, transgendered sci-fi adventure tale set in organic cyberspace. A queer-core cult film that vexingly blends animation, found footage, splatter, Hong Kong action flicks and anime’ with the result being a keenly sexual avant-garde extravaganza. Dandy (director Hans Scheirl), a split-personality cyborg of fluid gender, crash lands on the cybernetic planet of 3075 where two scientists, The Twins, remove his H-memory thereby making him a natural member of 3075’s chemo-sexual structure. Strange creatures soon haunt Dandy: a former self; his venomous Supermother Cyniborg, his 18th century aristocratic father Sir Sidore, a dusty mummy and other transgendered time travelers. Confronted with these creatures, Dandy is forced to remember and attempt to become one with himself. The low budget restraints actually are an asset as the highly inventive set design and outrageous costumes help creates an unforgettable underground film experience. You Might Also Like
