REVIEW
It's hate at first sight for the prim but pretty photographer Nico (Shanda Russell) and the butch Bing (Jennifer Burton), a pierced and tattooed writer. But these mismatched women eventually fall in love as they work together for the sleazy tabloid “Amazing World News.” Reluctant partners in work, the two soon begin trading flirtatious insults while they suffer through interviews with bizarre weirdoes claiming to be alien abductees and brides of Satan. The pair is soon swept into a real-life drama of murder when a dead psychic feeds our heroines information that could lead them to a big story involving murder. It's only a matter of time then before Nico and Bing realize that it is more than just a good scoop they are attracted to. However, certain events both on and off the job begin to test their new relationship. Writer-director-producer Denise Ohio has made a cheerful romance in which the unexpected often occurs. The love scenes – filmed in arty black and white – are tender and frisky, but the best sequence features Nico taking nude photos of Bing. Russell is quite good as the lipstick lesbian, but it is Burton, as the trash talking dyke with an attitude the size of her bright red convertible that is the real star of the film. An amusing no-budget charmer. You Might Also Like
