SYNOPSISYou’ll laugh — and be moved — by this outrageous yet poignant tale of a terminally ill Pennsylvanian teenager who, for his final request, attempts to spend a weekend with a supermodel.
REVIEW
Sixteen-year-old Marcus Hook, PA resident Dylan (Michael Angarano) is dying from cancer, much to the dismay of his single mother (Cynthia Nixon). But Dylan, determined to live life to the fullest while he’s still around, has a few things he’d like to experience first. When a Make a Wish-styled organization decides to grant one of Dylan’s wishes, the teen initially asks to go fishing with a football star. But at the last minute — during a televised news conference — he changes his mind and asks to spend a weekend with gorgeous (and petulant!) supermodel Nikki Sinclair (Sunny Mabrey). Alas, the meeting between Dylan and Nikki is brief and doesn’t go as Dylan hoped, so with his best friends Slap and Ricky, the trio hit Manhattan in search of a last decadent splurge… and another shot at Nikki. Director Alex Steyermark (Prey For Rock and Roll — whose Gina Gershon makes an appearance here) perfectly balances the humor of Dylan and friends’ exploits (which includes taking advantage of medical marijuana), and the pathos of the young man’s impending fate. As Dylan, Angarano (Sky High and Seabiscuit) also perfectly channels this balance. Editor's Suggestions
