REVIEW
An on-the-rise corporate exec assistant has her world turned upside-down when her sister and brother-in-law die — and leave her their three kids to raise. She, of course, grows emotionally from the experience and ... oh, please, enough already. This utterly predictable comedy-drama (directed — predictably — by Marshall) proves a lackluster showcase for Hudson's charms — which, truth be told, seem to be depleting after each successive lousy movie she agrees to appear in. Cusack tries as the other sister who feels, as a proven homemaker, that she should be raising her sister's kids, but there's not a truly authentic or affecting moment in the whole film. This premise could've made a decent, heart-tugging movie — too bad everyone involved took the easy road.
