REVIEW
It is the 1950s and David Green (Fraser), a lower middle-class kid from Scranton, is recruited by the exclusive St. Matthews School to help break their three-year losing streak in football. Handsome and an excellent athlete, David is quickly embraced by the school elite. But he's also forced to hide his Jewish heritage from his new anti-Semitic, joke-spewing friends. The underlying theme of what parts of ourselves we are willing to give up in order to fit in and "be a part of things" gives this film its punch. School Ties is a heartfelt and surprisingly entertaining story with just the right amount of nostalgia and sentimentality.
