REVIEW
A visually rich medieval murder mystery set in a remote monastary. A monk falls from a high tower: was it suicide or murder? As other brothers are found dead, visiting monk Connery investigates the series of bizarre deaths. Full of tongue-in-cheek allusions to Sherlock Holmes (Connery's sleuthing monk is named William of Baskerville), this film may be a disappointment to those who have read the novel; but the film perfectly captures the atmosphere of the era and maintains a sufficient amount of suspense. (Filmed in English)
