This riveting psycho-thriller offers an unflinching look into the shadowy recesses of the human psyche. While on holiday in the south of France, a young Dutch couple stop for gas at a service station. While he fills the tank, she goes into a restaurant and mysteriously disappears without a trace. Unable to convince the police that foul play was involved, the man returns home, only to be haunted by her disappearance until he decides to retrace their steps, hoping to entrap the possible abductor/murderer. An unrelentingly taut account that eschews the easy depiction of violence for the much more menacing idea of psychological obsession and domination.
