The Third Miracle is a haunting spiritual journey led by veteran filmmaker Holland (Europa, Europa) into the political and sometimes not-so-spiritual process of sainthood. Father Frank Harris (a terrific Harris) is a disillusioned priest living in a Chicago flophouse who is called back into service by the Church looking for him to debunk the "myth" of a crying statue of Virgin Mary. He investigates his faith and his chastity through the process when he meets Roxanne (Heche), the potential saint's daughter, and falls in love with her. Issues of church politics, faith, celibacy and just plain passion rule this smart, candid film.
