An atmospheric misfire (based on yet another Stephen King short story) about a sweatshop bedsheet folding machine that develops a taste for human flesh when an accidental combination of circumstances awakens the demon residing within. It's as silly as it sounds. Englund's campy performance as the Scrooge-like caretaker of The Mangler, and director Hooper's Grand Guignol treatment of the subject matter, along with some really grotesque death sequences, almost compensate for the skimpy screenplay and poor performances.
