This film chronicles the making of The Sex Pistols' most recognized classic punk album.
In 1977, four British working class teenagers create mayhem and chaos among the established order of the music business and produce one of the most influential albums in rock music. They were The Sex Pistols. This programme tells the story of the making of Never Mind The Bollocks - Here's The Sex Pistols, the album that was, and remains today, a key inspiration worldwide for the alternative music scene. The story of the band is told through exclusive interviews with John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock. Plus, the film takes a track by track look at the making of the album. Malcolm McIaren, their 'Manager' tells his side of the story whilst Chris Thomas (Producer) and Bill Price (Producer/Engineer) set the record straight about the recording sessions and return to the original multitrack tapes for evidence of the bands dynamic musicianship. Steve and Glen demonstrate riffs and licks from the songs and explain the development of the songwriting. There are also contributions from Dave Goodman (early demo recordings producer), journalists and record executives from the time. The featured songs include Anarchy In The UK, Pretty Vacant, God Save The Queen, Holiday In The Sun, EMI, and Bodies and Problems.
The program is illustrated by archive footage from the Sex Pistols in concert, TV performances, home movie footage, promotional videos and early demo recordings. "Never Mind The Bollocks" set the standards for all future punk rock recordings. This program provides a unique insight into the making of a record which still remains a milestone in rock history. A true Classic Album.
