Agatha Christie's popular novel makes for a sumptuous ride on the Orient Express in this big-budget, large-scaled, all-star murder mystery. Finney, obviously enjoying himself, stars as Hercule Poirot, that famed Belgian detective who finds himself investigating the murder of an American industrialist (Widmark) while a passenger on the famed luxury train. With more than enough suspects to go around, Poirot systematically interrogates and eliminates until the final and very surprising conclusion. A truly impressive cast. Lumet's pace is even throughout, which doesn't give rise to too many overly exciting scenes, but he keeps the whodunit aspect absolutely entrancing.
