Review

One of director Capra's great achievements, this delightfully entertaining and "pixilated" social comedy stars Cooper as Longfellow Deeds, a small-town boy who becomes heir to a fortune; when he decides to give it away to the needy, he goes on trial for insanity. Arthur, in the first of her three Capra films, shines as a newspaper reporter who gets the first scoop on Mr. Deeds. One of Cooper's best and most endearing performances.
