Mira Nair

Born in India, Mira Nair found success early on with an Oscar® nomination and international acclaim for Salaam Bombay. She effortlessly made the transition to English-language cinema with Mississippi Masala and The Perez Family. Branching out stylistically, she's paid tribute to Bollywood (Monsoon Wedding), costume romances (Vanity Fair) and kitchen sink dramas (The Namesake). Outside of directing she also juggles a variety of projects, from a film lab to promote moviemaking in Uganda to teaching at the Columbia University School of Arts.
