Review

One of the most innovative and freshest comedies of the '90s, this low-key, quirky and very funny fantasy follows businessman Brooks' adventures in the hereafter. Killed in a car accident, he goes on trial to determine his next plane of existence. During his stay at Judgment City -- where you can eat as much as you like and never gain weight -- he falls in love with Streep, who is certainly on a higher spiritual plateau. The film, written and directed by Brooks, finds most of its humor with our conceptions concerning death, love and commitment. A particular highlight is Streep eating pasta, and there's a cameo which alone is worth the price of the rental.
