Barbara Gittings Award: Ellen Ratner
In advance of the tribute, QFest will host the Barbara Gittings Award VIP Gala Showcase, 2:30p.m.-4:00p.m. at Monkey Bar (3rd & Chestnut), honoring Ellen Ratner, as well as A Perfect Ending director Nicole Conn for the 20th anniversary of Conn’s film, “Claire of the Moon”.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 267.765.9800 x4 or at the door.
4:30 p.m. Ritz East Theater 2: Barbara Gittings Award: Ellen Ratner.
This year’s recipient actually worked side by side with Barbara Gittings in the early 1970s, making this year’s award even more special! Ellen Ratner is a passionate philanthropist, LGBT activist, Network Bureau Chief for Talk Radio News Service and a contributor to Fox News.
Following the award presentation, QFest will screen the Philadelphia premiere of A Force of Nature, a film by Academy Award winning director Barbara Kopple that brilliantly captures Ratner’s vivacious energy, immeasurable magnetism, and infectious personality.

7/22 9:30 p.m. SugarHouse Casino: Closing Night Party. After the screening head to SugarHouse Casino (1001 N. Delaware Avenue) where the Drag Mafia attend under the helm of Mr. Telly “Style” Simmons and Mandance: Rehoboth presents DJ Stephen Durkin spins all night.

7/22 11:30 p.m. Bike Stop: When The Bears Come Marching In: The Last Shout. If you are still looking to party after SugarHouse, then head back to the gayborhood for the official after party at the Bike Stop (206 S. Quince Street). DJ Barney Medunic spins as we help to raise funds for our partner, “Liberty Bears.”
