QFEST: Day 3

With the first full day of QFEST under our belts, things are just getting started. Screenings are selling out, so make sure you don't miss any films by purchasing tickets early. Everyone was talking about Beauty at Tavern on Camac last night for the official after party. Other highlights were Cloudburst and Kylie Minogue’s cameo in Jack and Diane. We aren’t ones to dwell on the past, so here’s what you should be looking at today.
12:15 p.m. Ritz East Theater 2: Positive Youth. Actor Charlie David goes behind the camera to make this documentary illustrating the struggle of youths living with HIV. Included with Positive Youth is a shorts program focusing on the traumas of being young and gay. Director Gary Riotto (“Finding Judy”) will be in attendance. Teens Like Phil's David Rosler & Jake Robins also attend.

12:15 p.m. Ritz at the Bourse: Turtle Hill, Brooklyn. A 30th birthday party exposes truths and secrets for one couple and their friends. Director/Producer Ryan Gielen, Writer/Producer/Actor Brian W. Seibert, Writer/Producer Actor Richardo Valdez, Producer/Actor Holly Lynn Ells, Actor Maryll Botula, and Composer John Whitefoot will be in attendance.
Turtle Hill Brooklyn

12:30 p.m. Ritz East Theater 1: Woman’s Lake. A lesbian couple head to a cabin in the woods to work on their relationship.

2:30 p.m. Ritz at the Bourse: UNFIT: Ward vs. Ward. The legal system’s prejudices are on full display in this documentary.

2:30 p.m. Ritz East Theater 2: Jobriath A.D. Openly gay glam rocker Jobriath was ahead of his time by creating a pop culture persona that would make both Madonna and Lady Gaga envious. Jim Fouratt and Jobriath's cousin and sister will be in attendance.
2:45 p.m. Ritz East Theater 1: Elliot Loves.

4:45 p.m. Ritz at the Bourse: Mary Marie. Two women reconnect at the country house where they grew up after one of their mother’s passes away. Director/actor Alexandra Roxo will be in attendance to discuss the film and take questions with the. audience

5:00 p.m. Ritz East Theater 1: naked as we came. Two brothers set out to bring their mother back to New York City with them. Director Richard LeMay will be in attendance to discuss the film with the audience and take questions.

Dirty Poole: Work in Progress
5:00 p.m. Ritz East Theater 2: Dirty Poole: A Work in Progress. Tells the remarkable story of gay liberation and independent filmmaking pioneer Wakefield Poole.Director Jim Tushinski and subject Wakefield Poole will be in attendance to discuss the film and answer your questions.

7:00 p.m. Café Nola: Dinner and Drinks in Honor of Dirty Poole. Join the Godfather of Gay Adult Filmmaking, Wakefield Poole, and Director Jim Tushinski at Café Nola (414 South 2nd Street) for fabulous drink and dinner deals. Don’t be surprised if “beads” are XXX-posed!
7:15 p.m. Ritz East Theater 1: North Sea Texas. A lonely gay adolescent suffers the pangs of unrequited passion.

7:15 p.m. Ritz at the Bourse: Saltwater. After leaving the Navy, Will gets set up by a friend with the handsome Josh. Director Charlie Vaughn and actor Ronnie Kerr will be in attendance to discuss the film and take questions with the audience.

The Men Next Door
9:30 p.m. Ritz East Theater 1: The Men Next Door. Reluctantly celebrating his 40th birthday, Doug finds himself falling for two very different men. Director Rob Williams and actors Michael Nicklin, Eric Dean, Benjamin Lutz, and Heidi Rhodes will be in attendance to discuss the film and take questions with the audience.

9:00 p.m. Tavern on Camac: Two World Premiere After-parties Saltwater and The Men Next Door. Make sure to stop by Tavern on Camac (243 S. Camac Street) to mingle with the filmmakers from both films.Ticket holders from both films redeem tix stub for a complimentary drink by QFEST sponsors Smirnoff Vodka & Coors Light. 7:30 p.m. Ritz East Theater 2: Stud Life: When JJ meets Elle she is caught between the demands of a new girlfriend and the needs of her longtime gay best friend.

10:00 p.m. Arouse at Voyeur: Stud Life Movie Party Women’s Gala. Join the “Stimulus Tour” for this post premiere party! $10.00 Cover. 1221 St. James Street.
9:30 p.m. Ritz at the Bourse: Loose Cannons. One is good, but two is twice as nice as one family finds out when not one, but two of their sons unknowingly compete to come out to the rest of their family first.

9:45 p.m. Ritz East Theater 2: My Best Day. When Karen unexpectedly gets a call from her long-lost father, she takes a road trip with a friend in hopes of having an all-American family reunion.

Day of show tickets only available at the venue. Tickets for the entire day go on sale 30 minutes before the first show of the day at each venue. Screenings for all QFEST films are at the Ritz East Theater 1 & 2, and Ritz Bourse.


Tennessee Queer
7/16 8:15 p.m. Ritz at the Bourse: Tennessee Queer. A scheming politician and holier than thou minister set out to thwart a town’s first pride parade. Producer/screenwriter Mark Jones will be in attendance to discuss the film and answer your questions.
