Despite its derivative story which borrows liberally from both Seven and The Silence of the Lambs, Kiss the Girls is a modest, entertaining, seen-it-before variation of the serial-killer thriller. The film gets its main strength from its two leads, Freeman and Judd, both giving compassionate, thoughtful performances. Freeman is a psychiatrist for the Washington D.C. police department. When his niece is kidnapped by a serial killer in North Carolina, he takes matters in his own hands and begins a private investigation. He hooks up with doctor Judd, another kidnap victim who just barely escaped the killer's desolate hideout. Together they try to track down the killer before it's too late for the rest of the captives. Kiss the Girls does manage some good moments of suspense, and it's very absorbing as a police procedural when Freeman is doing his Sherlock Holmes bit.
