From the liner notes

This low-budget Italian adventure outing stars Stuart Whitman (When Worlds Collide), Italian B-movie stalwarts Edmund Purdom and Laura "Emmanuelle" Gemser, and Harold "Odd Job" Sakata, in one of his final film roles. Whitman is a mercenary who must tangle with cannibals, Japanese soldiers, and more. This financially-challenged grindhouse pastiche has developed a reputation amongst admirers of violent kitsch.
