Review

Yet another senseless American rehash of a French film, this time Claude Sautet's Les Choses de la Vie. Gere plays a whiny architect involved in a car accident. As he looks back at his life, the story concentrates on his relationships with his wife (Stone) and journalist mistress (Davidovich). Though Gere has in recent years acquired a newfound maturity and confidence on-screen, his presence alone does not warrant a remake. Stone gives the film's best performance as his beautiful but cold wife.
