Inside Porn 2002 is nothing more than an infomercial for Sports and Recreation Studio: a string of solos, pairings and unimaginative behind-the-scenes footage introduced by S&R chief Drew Warner. S&R and Warner have produced some popular stuff, so it’s a bit disappointing that more energy, creativity and thought weren’t put into this project.

It starts with a promotion photo shoot of twinkie Troy Michaels for one of S&R’s biggest titles, Poolside with Dean Phoenix. The frustration starts right away, because while we can see the interaction between photographer and model, we can’t hear a damn thing. The canned music is too loud and the miking is non-existent. If S&R wants to let us inside and behind the scenes, they have to let us hear what’s going on as well as see it. That’s part of the fun!

Next up is a rather hokey interview with Adam Hart, whose flexing pec muscles are more interesting than his answers. That quickly segues into a photo shoot with tattooed straight trade Brad Taylor. We get to watch him look at straight porn in order to muster up an erection. Snatching a glimpse of a model glimpsing at snatch; how hot is that?

The first pairing follows, featuring Marc Anthony and Giovanni Corleone. The two guys suck each other (rather listlessly), and then Corleone rides on Anthony’s cock (more like bounces on it). The scene ends with them in the background and a can of lube in front with its Web site address. Hey, what’s an infomercial without product placement?

Next is a solo turn by J.T. Sloan, who leans back on a deck chair and jerks off until he shoots out a couple of squirts. We then get another unintelligible “behind-the-scenes” photo shoot with leather pups Rafael and Michael Vincenzo from Open Trench Vol. 1. It’s all posed shots with no sex - except from one brief moment when you see the photographer holding a light monitor in front of Vincenzo’s face as he’s furiously sucking Rafael. Now that’s the kind of behind the scenes footage we want to see!

These six scenes all happen in only 43 minutes, so the next two segments are a welcome change of pace. First up is an excerpt from MANeuvers: Agony of Victory, featuring Frank Taylor and a black dildo. For 13 minutes we watch Taylor give it to himself from all angles. His face registers very little emotion, but his eager and talented asshole more than makes up for it.

This is followed by 20 minutes of genuinely hot sex between Tanner Hayes and newcomer Bret Collins. After some serious cock-sucking, the action turns anal, as Collins pummels Hayes from behind, before flipping him onto his back and ramming him with a dildo. This scene shows why S&R has become so popular.

Inside Porn Should have ended there, but instead we get yet another mundane behind-the-scenes segment, this time on the set of High Desert: Troy Michaels jerks off in the car, Dylan Reece and Jeremy Tucker complain about the lack of food, and, for one very, very brief moment, Jack Ryan sucks off Dean Phoenix. Finally, the video ends with Marc Anthony in yet another solo scene, as he goes skinnydipping and then jerks off. Whoopee.

Inside Porn is what it is and nothing more. If you’re a devoted fan of S&R, you’ll get a kick out of it.
