Those of us that regularly read gay literature are familiar with Lawrence Schimel and Richard LaBonte as they are regarded as masters of the gay anthology. Here they give us quite a collection of sex stories. Each story is special in its own way and there is not a dull story in the anthology. They are sexy, intelligent, and literary and they go beyond the borders to which many will not touch. Reading the stories makes us aware of gay consciousness and the condition of the gay male in the 21st century.
There is a great deal of diversity here--as we know gay men, like everyone else, are not all alike. Desire and fantasy changes from man to man. Included are thirty-four stories make up this collection---some by authors that we all have read before and some by a new generation of gay writers. As diverse as the authors are so are the subjects that they write about. This makes a book that has something for everyone and there are even two stories that are illustrated. There is a difference between porn and erotica and this is erotica in that it has something to say about the way we have live and continue to live today. The stories are about desire and whether that desire is present or in out memory, it is the basic theme of the anthology. I understand that the stories are true and therefore they are that much more erotic because they actually happened.
I'll close by giving you some of the writers---Jameson Currier, Sky Gilbert, Aaron Hamburger, Wayne Hoffman, Shaun Levin and Tim Miller to name just a few. They look to their memories to tell us their stories and I, for one, am glad that they did.
