Synopsis

Review

This dishy, irresistible comedy presents a handful of gorgeous San Francisco studs tortured by unrequited love. Manny (Rosas), a hunky Cuban boy (who is the spitting image of John Paul Pitoc, the co-star of trick), loves Aaron (Wheeler), but Aaron already has an always absent boyfriend. Blair (Parker) is an insecure pretty boy whose friend Steve (Gavzer) carries a torch for him - but for how long? Rounding out the cast of romantic hopefuls is Kevin (McCann), who might just find his knight in shining armor IF he can muster up the courage to speak to him. Gypsy Boys features some great dance music, a bevy of horny body worship-obsessed, tight muscle-shirt wearing cuties, a series of hilarious and sexy fantasies (most notably the "porno" one) and just the right amount of sexual tension to make its message about game playing ring true. Besides, how can you resist a movie that opens with a trio of boys using a live nude model to determine the 25 places on the male anatomy from which you can drink champagne?

Tired, Very Tired

This story, about a bunch
of San Francisco club queens,
tries to be a romantic comedy,
but never lifts off the
ground. It's too weighed down
by a predictable script,
second-rate acting, stilted
dialogue. The casting is
awful; the hunks don't look
like hunks and the sensitive
guys act like awkward high
school wrestlers etc. – it
doesn't make sense. The
jokes usually fall flat, and
you've seen these plot lines
(done better) many times.
It's a poor man's "Queer As
Folk."

I feel obliged to submit this review to balance the negative comments above.Gypsy Boys is a funny and well crafted slice-of-gay life drama.It compares rather favorably to "Trick" and "Lonely Hearts Club",and has more charm than either of those films. A very independent movie, made on a shoestring budget, it follows the romantic adventures of a group of men over the course of one weekend. Much less maudlin than "Broken Hearts" , not nearly as silly as "Trick". Nice shots of San Francisco as well. Brian Shepp has gone to great pains to produce something that has the professionalism of a big budget picture, even though it was shot in his apartment. Will appeal to many who like "Queer as Folk", etc. Why did the other two reviewers hate it? I don't know, but I can think of two possible reasons: 1. The box cover hints that it is simply erotica: naked party boyz. It isn't, though there are a couple cute guys in their underwear. 2. Lacking a big budget, the club scenes are a little sparse; no money for 100 extras. With those caveats (if that's what they are) I recommend this video.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever spent any kind of money on. The actors where totally out their, and the lines, had no meaning what so ever. I can't believe I spent 24.00 on this. What a waste. Save your money and go to the movies a couple of times, this way if you don't like it you are not stuck with it!!!!

The most appealing thing about this move is the box it was packed in. Some of the lines were funny but I've seen more nudity in straight flicks that lasted longer.
I personally wish I'd saved the $24.00.
