Review

Before I start this review in earnest, you should know that I'm going to say a few negative things about the Xtreme Head Exciter. I don't want you to think that this means I hated the toy. Far from it. I had a great time pleasuring the head of my penis with it, and I plan to use it again. Probably as soon as I finish this review, in fact.

I'm going to start with the things that CalExotics got right when they made this toy. Right off the bat, it's a great concept. It's basically a motorized dicksucking machine (something we've all dreamed about for years). I salute California Exotics for making many men's dreams come true simply by building this thing. Flaws or no flaws, this toy is the blueprint for the next evolution of motorized male pleasure.

You turn the Xtreme Head Exciter on with an easy-to-understand on/off switch. No tricky touchpads. No confusing dials. As soon as the thing's on, most people I've showed it to have repsonded with a wide-eyed "holy shit!", or something of the like. The hydraulic-looking action moves the head up and down quickly and smoothly, and it's not hard to imagine your dick inside of it. The textured sleeve is soft and inviting, and when used correctly (remember those words - when used correctly - because they'll come up later), this toy feels incredible. It's like having your cockhead speed-sucked by a post-21st-century cyborg.

So what's the problem with this thing? Well, while the concept is as solid as my hard-on, I have to say that the actual craftsmanship of this toy seems a little bit half-assed. A bit more attention on the construction of this thing could have been the difference between a great idea and a groundbreaking toy, but as it is, it's a little bit lacking.

First of all, the textured sleeve I mentioned before? Well, aside from being a bit too shallow (2.25 inches), it's not actually connected to the rest of the toy. Instead, it sits inside the motorized chamber where it's unconnected to anything and incredibly easy to remove. This makes cleanup a snap, but actually using the thing can be a little frustrating. Once you've got your cock inside and you've got the head exciter working your cock, the sleeve tends to keep falling out of the actual toy (and proves to be a pain in the ass to get back in as well). Sort of like trying to stick a ziploc bag inside a pringles can and hoping it will stay there. It couldn't hurt to make it slightly more sturdy and heavy, and maybe an inch or two deeper while you're at it (seriously, why stop at having your cock head massaged when you could get your whole shaft worked over?!).

Secondly, much like the terribly-disappointing Rotator Masturbator, the motor in this thing just doesn't have the strength it needs. If you push your cock inside it (which is often a necessity to keep the sleeve inside the toy), the motor drags and sometimes even stops. It just lacks the power to keep moving. Granted, this toy runs on a handful of AA's and therefore doesn't boast much power, but I'd rather have a more expensive, rechargeable toy that stood up to whatever was jammed inside of it than something that left me blueballed at the critical point. Take it from me, California Exotics, masturbators don't fuck around with this stuff, and this is not a toy for a casual lets-try-something-new kind of masturbator. If someone's interested enough to buy a motorized cockhead stimulator, they'll pony up extra dough for a more powerful product.

As for correct usage, I found that it worked best when held against a hard surface, like a wall or a dresser. If you keep it in your hand, you'll most likely experience the Head Exciter moving back and forth away from your cock, rather than on it. It you use a wall to stabilize it, you'll find your cock getting a lot more attention.

Let's recap. When CalExotics makes version 2.0 of this thing, it should include a deeper and stronger sleeve, a more powerful motor and a few more modes of operation (I didn't mention that last point - it only moves in fast and ultra fast. I'd personally like something a little bit more slow and sensual, like a real BJ. I don't know about you, but I rarely go straight to skull-fucking when I'm getting my dick sucked).

In short, this toy's impressive but flawed. I certainly recommend trying it, but know what you're getting into first. If you want a more powerful and more expensive toy (that also works well but carries it's own flaws), try out the Cobra Libre, which I also find myself using pretty often.
