Francois Rousseau, photographer of Locker Room Nudes: Dieux du Stade The French National Rugby Team and the famed Dieux du Stade calendar, presents a unique and candid collection of nude and seminude photos of more than fifty men in, on, and around water. Wet Men is a celebration of the beauty of the male form, as well as the fulfillment of the fantasies surrounding the swimmers, lifeguards, athletes, and bathers around us. Each photo in this beautifully produced book shows a man or men soaked to their bathing suits-or less-emerging from an afternoon’s dip in the ocean, playing on the beach, laying on sailboat decks, or taking a midsummer’s soak in a pool. Photographed on the beaches in the South of France, the public pools of Paris, the showers and spas of gyms, and the sparkling waters of Tahiti, these men are not professional models. Rather, they-and their sculpted, healthy, and undeniably sexy bodies-are eroticized, in the water, on the sand, under the sun, for their realness, their masculinity, and their accessibility.

Summer, alas, is over but the joys of the beaches and the pools needn't be gone - especially if the reader enjoys the photography of Francois Rousseau, that genius of the 'Dieux de Stade' series of athletes in both book and calendar format. This collection of images of healthy young athletes introduces another element in Rousseau's palette - the reaction of water both form the active cascades of disrupted surfaces by teams of players or divers or simply breaking the surface somehow, to the more genteel images of reflections (some of the most beautiful images in his book are those in which the model is completely reflected in a flat surface of water).
This book could well be the perfect gift for those who are water sports fanatics as well as those who appreciate the fine are of black and white photography. As with Rousseau's other publications, this group of men includes lifeguards, swimmers, divers and only occasionally are they captured without trunks or suits. Instead of emphasizing nudity, Rousseau describes the macho fun of men celebrating their physical prowess and their physiques all i good fun. That hey happen to be sensual and erotic is left to the eye of the viewer. These are not posed shots but instead are from men on the beaches in the South of France, the public pools of Paris, the showers and spas of gyms, and the sparkling waters of Tahiti: these men are not professional models. This book is more a celebration of youth and health and vigor and fun - a perfect gift for men and women.
