Visible Lives, a tribute to E. Lynn Harris, contains a trio of short stories by African American Same Gender Loving authors. *34214, *110959 and Stanley Bennett Clay laid pen to paper in tribute to one of today’s great African American SGL authors - tribute to a man who’s prolific and expressive pen was quieted by an early death.

I am familiar with the writings of James Earl Hardy, so I knew what to expect from his gifted pen. His story, Is It Still Jood To Ya? is still jood to me. A continuation of the love story between Mitchell Crawford and Raheim Rivers, this story picks up after a four year break up. Hardy weaves a story of love, family and connectedness that binds the story’s protagonists and carries them into another realm of their relationship.

Not as familiar with the writings of Mr. Dean, I was excited to read The Intern. It’s a great story filled with love and joy and quite a few twists. Finding love in a younger man, the protagonist in this story finds love in the arms of an intern, Quincy. The ending of the story really threw me for a loop. What a great short story.

Mr. Clay as well was unfamiliar to me. In the House of John, we are treated to a story about love lost when the protagonist, Jesse, finds that the current love of his life is getting loved by someone else while filming on location in Germany. To ease his pain and loss, Jesse decides to go on a fun and frolic filled vacation to the Dominican Republic. A surprise awaits him, as he tires of the carnal pleasures at his daily and nightly disposal. Will it be love or a missed opportunity? A must read!
