Synopsis

Ease on down the yellow–brick road with The Wiz, starring superstars Diana Ross and Michael Jackson! Review

A modern updating of The Wizard of Oz, with Ross and Jackson heading an all–black cast. Based on the Tony Award–winning Broadway musical, we're invited to "ease on down the road" with Dorothy (Ross), whose Oz is downtown Manhattan. There are a couple of dazzling musical sequences, but Ross' lifeless portrayal fails to excite. Mabel King, singing "Don't You Bring Me No Bad News", and Ross (Ted, not Lady Diana), as the Cowardly Lion, steal the show.
