In fact, fundamental Christianity was threatening to take over the United States and the two young men become members of an underground resistance movement.
What is a good idea fall flat and it looks like a film made by a bunch of high school students who were given a camera and just told to shoot some film.
When the religious fanatics take over the United States, they begin to rewrite the Constitution based on the Bible and gay people, lesbians and Jews are out and everyone must be Christian (sounds a bit like Arkansas). What else can I say that this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. In fact, I cringed as I watched it and almost turned it off several times but I kept hoping that the interesting premise might yield an interesting movie but no such luck. The acting is positively incredibly bad so much so that I hesitate to call it acting. In fact, I usually find something good in every film I see but I can’t say that here. I guess the director, Jack Walsh was using the movie to bring us his own political ideology (which is super paranoid) but he does not succeed. He slips documentary footage in that adds nothing and there are scenes of poverty that just seem thrown in for whatever reason. He tries very hard to get his message across which I realized in the first two minutes. It steadily goes from bad to awful to unwatchable ( I know I watched it).
There is one plus. A bonus feature, “A Letter to Rock” is extremely moving. It was made in 1994 before the arrest of the AIDS virus with the medicinal cocktail and it shows how hopeless things were in sensitivity and emotion. We were ignored by the powers that were; we were condemned by them and I remember it too well. For that alone the DVD is worth the purchase. We must never forget.
